Monica Perez

Enlarged view: Portrait Monica Perez

Monica holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with academic stays at KIT Karlsruhe and ETH Zurich.
She brings a dynamic and interdisciplinary perspective to robotics, combining hands-on engineering expertise with a strong interest in healthcare applications.

During her studies at UPC, Monica became deeply involved in the Formula Student Electric and Driverless competitions — including co-founding the first fully autonomous Formula Student car project in Spain.
While pursuing her Master’s degree, she worked at Naska.ai (Scaled Robotics), where she focused on path planning and trajectory optimization for autonomous navigation. After completing her studies, she gained over three years of industry experience at Sevensense Robotics (by ABB), where she contributed as a Robotic Systems Engineer. Her work spanned algorithm development for mobile robots, system integration, test automation, and mentoring internship students.

Monica has recently joined SCAI Lab as a PhD student, where she explores data-driven rehabilitation and investigates how robotics can support and collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes.
